I'm with PW4 (G000 PP10...) and 5.10.3. I have just installed the hotfix. If, for whatever reason, my kindle is updated to the last version (5.13.3)... am I screwed, or does the hotfix protect the JB? I don't know if you meant we should wait until the hotfix is repackaged for 5.13.3 TO PROTECT the JB for eventual updates to that version. Thank you so much! |

@elbioleg: The name itself should imply that a hotfix is kind of an "after" thingy.
So, no, iff your bridge is up to date beforehand, you're good to go. The usual warning that FW >= 5.1x.y is generally a cesspit of evilness applies, but, there you go. That does mean that, if you can't remember when you actually updated the bridge last, yeah, updating the bridge first will probably be less painful than dealing with the hotfix or the recovery later ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 11-03-2020 at 04:29 PM. |

I have a jailbroken KT4 running firmware 5.13.2
Recently it started refusing to index any added or removed books (either through Calibre or direct drag and drop over USB). If I add a book, it doesn't show up, and if I remove one, it keeps being displayed (even deleting the book using the menu on the Kindle itself does not remove it). My first instinct is to do a factory reset, but I'm afraid this will destroy the jailbreak. Am I correct in my assumption? If so, is there any way to reset the index without destroying the jailbreak? Thanks |

I'm under windows, /mnt/us/system shows up as X:/System, but I have no access to /var/local . How can I do that? (you can get technical, I'm a developer)

Since you are jailbroken, you can do it within the device: use Kindle explorer, kterm, KOReader file manager.

That seems to have done the trick, thanks.
I was looking for a way to delete the kindle database, but never found which file it was. Thanks again. |

I spoke too soon.
The Kual booklet disappeared and I can't reinstall it with ;log mrpi (it just executes a search instead of installing Kual). :'( Edit: I was selecting ";log mrpi" from the previous search history. Typing it directly works but I can't seem to reinstall KUAL... Last edited by LarrxX; 11-15-2020 at 04:28 PM. |

Download KUAL (coplate) archive. Try to install Update_KUALBooklet_hotfix_*_install.bin via menu Update Your Kindle.

If that doesn't work, you need a full update:
hotfix update firmware double reboot update mrpi Update_KUALBooklet_*_install.bin via mrpi In case of any problems with hotfix installation: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...3&postcount=26 |

I tried hotfix install, reinstall MRPI, uninstall of Kual. Reinstall of Kual using MRPI. Uninstall of Kual, reinstall of Kual using UYK, nothing worked.
What do you mean by "update firmware"? I have the latest version running, and I don't want to risk breaking the jailbreak (the Screen Savers hack is still working, for example). |

The latest is 5.13.3, btw.
Once you have the latest hotfix installed, it is safe to update the firmware. I mean that the firmware update might clean up the system and allow to install and show up KUAL. What do you mean "nothing worked"? |
