What firmware is on the Mini? It will only be the 4.10.x that have the Walmart specific code. The 4.9.x might have some of it, but, I doubt if anything earlier will.

And I don't recognise that affiliate.

I've got the latest official release on it, 3.19.5761 — so I guess I'll have to try it on the Touch with the newest software (the other Touch is at the same release as the Mini).

As for the affiliate ... not sure how that got there. I thought I had changed the affiliate to "rakutenbooks" so it would automatically upgrade to 3.19.5761 with a sync.

EDIT: Walmart won't "take" for some reason on the Touch, so I tried FNAC — ugh, it actually worked. No wonder Zod Wallop found it so irritating. Back to normal now. (Just realized that the Touch is on firmware 4.8.x (newest "official" firmware for the Touch A/B), so that may be why Walmart didn't "work." Though it's odd FNAC did.)

Are you forced to set up a Walmart account when you first set up the reader? I was hoping I could just set it up for my Kobo account. If it is the former case I wish I had not ordered from Walmart, but I was in a hurry to get a new reader.

I'm pretty sure you won't. When I logged out of my Kobo account on my Touch, the initial setup page defaulted to Walmart when I signed back in (even though this is an old device). But "Rakuten Kobo" was the next choice available. I guess all Kobos in the U.S. now will default to Walmart for the initial login. But all the other choices are still there. (At least they were in my case.)

You might have to find the "other login options" at the bottom of the screen first, if it defaults to Walmart account creation page.

OK, thanks everyone. I went through the thread but did not notice how to bypass the Walmart registration. All I remember seeing was linking the Walmart and Kobo accounts.
Looking forward to picking up my H2O today.

When I got my Aura, it was running 3.something firmware, so I guess affiliate FNAC works will older firmware than affiliate Walmart ('lucky' me).

I'm curious about affiliate Walmart. It displays a Walmart logo on start-up, but sounds like it doesn't screw the screensaver like FNAC did.

I'm sure that FNAC has been around for a very long time as a reseller for Kobo. In fact I'm think it was the original Touch back in 2011/2012 time frame

I've had shipping problems with Amazon, too. For example, Prime gives you 2 day shipping, and if your order is inexplicably delayed in the warehouse by several days, all that matters is that the shipping itself is 2 days. My main annoyance is that because it was originally expected to be a Friday pickup and they didn't get it shipped for a couple days, it pushed it to a Monday pickup.
