In the latest Win 10 preview build, is it working with Kobo Readers?

Jon, have you even bothered reading the thread? As DNSB was attempting to point out to you, THAT is exactly what this thread is about. It was mentioned twice that the new preview build has broke it again (although I'm not sure if it's only broken with the 3.19.xx firmware or if they managed to break it with 4.0.xxx that had Kobo's own fix in it).

Thanks Jim. At least it's not (yet) breaking whatever Kobo did in 4.0 to fix the problem from their end.

Completely incorrect in my line of work, and short-sighted. And let me ask you: where would the average Joe be (like you), without a buncha enthusiasts dealing with problems first, so you don't have to.

3.19. How does one get at IIRC 4.x? (And I do appreciate the irony of being told by one person to stick with regular builds of Windows while also being guide to release candidates of Kobo software...)

Can anyone else confirm that the current insider Win 10 release is not working with Kobo Readers using the latest 3.19 firmware?

Check this message in GeoffR's patching 4.0.7523 thread for the link to the 4.0.7523 firmware. Download the .zip file and copy the KoboRoot.tgz file to the .kobo directory and safely eject. It should go into the updating/restarting routine.

I'd disagree that this is a release candidate since it is a RTM version for the KA1 and KAv2 but that's playing semantics.

As for conflicting advice?

Except the current 4.0.7523 firmware that's out right now is for Mark 6 devices, and it wasn't even officially released for older hardware like the Glo HD (it's mainly for the Aura One). And it's already been confirmed to contain bugs, hence the delay in the firmware 4 general release. You might as well just wait it out until Kobo does the general release some time next week (hopefully).

Kobo have been doing firmware releases like this for a long time. And for almost as long, people here have been loading them on the other devices. It is very safe.

And there is no indication that the next firmware update will be for the other devices. Kobo are concentrating on fixing the problems with the Aura ONE. It is most likely that this release will still be for the Aura ONE only.

PC is on Win 10 Enterprise 14393.222, Kobo Aura is on 3.19.5761

Today is the first time I've tried to connect my Kobo since upgrading to the anniversary build a few months ago. I get nothing in Calibre and nothing in Explorer - not even a drive letter. I've read several threads implying that the issue should be fixed with the current Windows version, but it also sounds like my issue may be different since I don't get the drive letter.

Tried different cables, different ports, resetting all devices, and even factory reset on Kobo. No luck.

Any suggestions?

Can you open Disk Management (type disk management in the search box, open the "Create and format hard disk partitions" item. See if it shows a volume for your Kobo when it is attached (likely unpartitioned but still present). If it does, then check the following message and try using the Mini-tool Partition Wizard ( https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=234 ).

When I tried this, I also tried switching the type back to FAT32 and it still worked.
