Cecilia, I'm certain, was also changed from semi-bold to normal with 5.7.2, which has the interesting result of making Helvetica now noticeably darker than Caecilia (they used to look about the same to me. I'm not complaining though, Caecilia is still a very readable font without the semi-bold. As a bonus, actual bold text is now much more distinguishable.
So they only reverted Helvetica but left all the other fonts in their new shiny light and unreadable appearance. I consider this quite poor and half-assed to be honest.

The other fonts, other than maybe Cacelia, weren't changed. Certainly Bookerly was not.

updated PW3 directly from 5.6.5 to 5.7.2.1 (yes, JB survived) last night and it looks to me that Bookerly is heavier then before?

anyone other thinking so, or it was just too late for me?

So, other than font weight, did anything else change? I am not noticing anything but that's somewhat usual for me.

Up until now, If I didn't feel like starting a long book, I'd pick one with fewer dots; or if I wanted a long book, I'd pick one with more dots. Can't do that anymore
This is exactly how I found it useful too. In fact, I might send an email to customer services about it even though it probably won't make any difference. Incidentally, it was in list view you saw the dots anyway, not cover view.

I went from 5.6.5 to 5.7.2 and I thought that bookerly looked darker to me. Or heavier. So I guess its still the same on 5.7.2.1. I'll get that one later.
I wasn't sure if it was just in my head so if you see that too, then I guess I am not crazy.

A version change from x.y.z to x.y.z.1 is almost without doubt a very minor bug fix, rather than something a user will see. This is the reason they make these firmware updates available for download for a few weeks before starting to roll them out over the air, to see if any problems show up.

Likewise. I like the % since that's more useful (to me) once i'm reading, but prior to that it's nice to get a feel for how long the book is compared to others on the screen.

Maybe we'll get dots back and keep the % that'd be ideal (to me)

"Ghost books" -- see this thread, particularly posts 7 and 8 (which in turn points to another thread). I found collection updating was not happy when I changed the title of a book with Calibre. It then turned the book into a "ghost book" - present only when explicitly searched for, but not otherwise visible. (At least, not in Collections View). This might be related to what you describe.

This is all with the previous firmware version, as I haven't updated yet. I only got Amazon's email today, and came here to see what people thought of 5.7.2. Which is why I'm reading this thread (late).

Oh boy, where to begin with this update! How many of you can confirm the removal of the "Personal" banner on the classic home view

Can anyone tell me if, using the classical Home view (not the new one), has the 'Personal' banner been removed for books that you sent to your kindle via the kindle email or does it still show for this books? I know that books sent via calibre don't show the label but you loose many syncing benefits by doing so. If this is the case it will make me seriously consider updating, this label has always ticked my OCD nerves. If I tell you how many covers I have retouched so the book title or author name isn't hidden by this label (when possible) you wouldn't believe me.

My firmware is 5.4.5.1 and I believe I jailbroke it at the time, if I update to the new firmware from my version will it keep the jailbreak?

On which view does this happen? List view only? Can you post a screen shot?

Maybe slightly offtopic but did this method work for books sent to the kindle via email?

I'll miss the dots, they were really useful because they gave us a clue about the length of a book but I can live with that since I mostly use calibre to decide which book to read next.

That thread is of no relevance whatsoever to the previous poster. He is not using firmware 5.6.5, to which it applies.
