Has anyone tried a 64GB MicroSD card on Boyue T62[D/+] or Energy Sistem eReader Pro[+] (or the Boyue T61 / Icarus Illumina E653 even)? Does the device detect the whole 64GB and is it able to fully access it?

The Boyue specs (on the box and on the sites that are selling the device) says this device supports max 32GB but the Energy Sistem specs sheet says the device supports max 64GB SDHC (Aren't 64GB+ ones called "SDXC"?!). As I was reading about this on the Internet, people said that the devices supporting max 32GB SDHC would detect 64GB SDXC cards but would only show them if they're formatted in FAT32 and the accessible size would be 32GB. But then if Energy eReader Pro[+] is exactly the same device as Boyue T62[+] then how come this one says max 32GB and that one says max 64GB? Does it mean that Energy Sistem included maybe a "software support" for 64GB SD cards and is capable of reading from NTFS (or other filesystems suitable for larger partitions disks)?

I popped the microsd card out of my mp3 player to check. All the folders show, I tried playing a few random songs and they work fine.

I'm using a T62D/+ running the latest ES pro firmware that you recommended a few pages back. The card is formatted to FAT32.

Hope this helps.

edit: just tried rolling back to Boyue firmware (build v1.1.1-2015042209) to test, exactly the same behaviour.

Could you please check whether any of exFAT or ext2/3/4 filesystems works or not? I want to load offline Wikipedia and the individual files are well over 4GB so FAT32 wont serve. NTFS being a Journaling FS apparently causes unnecessary wear and tear resulting in significantly less life span of the microsd card. If u cant no problems. Thanks all the same.

Question New Boyue?

Hi.

Polish Onyx-Boox retailer Arta Tech have just announced a new eReader, the inkBOOK, with specs similar to both the Onyx Boox C67ML and Boyue T62+, but dimensions slimmer than either those models (159×117×7 mm, versus 170.2 x 117.3 x 8.7mm and 160 x 123 x 8.5 mm, respectively).

A picture on a forum reveals no Onyx-Boox branding, and styling distinctly reminiscent of Boyue designs.

Has anybody come across anything similar? I must admit I find Boyue-buttons combined with slimmer chassis to be quite an attractive prospect (if they'd only combine it with a Kindle Voyage/Kobo Glow HD screen, it would be my perfect eReader, given current technologies).

Ah, a mystery!

I tried translating that forum on my browser, and got a rough translation as a result. One member thought this device was from Boyue, another said no, it's from Onyx. Its measurements don't line up with any device from either that I can find just yet. Hmmm....

I found an Onyx i65 that is in a blue case, but the specs are all wrong.

When I have more time, I'll have to explore a little more.

The inkBOOK is indeed by Onyx. Here's a link to its specs page on the Arta Tech (Polish) site:http://onyx-ereader.pl/pl/specyfikacja-inkbook-onyx

The name "inkBOOK" is, of course, Arta Tech's name for the device. I don't know what Onyx calls it!

The name "inkBOOK" is, of course, Arta Tech's name for the device. I don't know what Onyx calls it!
The webpage (minimally) refers to it as the "inkBOOK Onyx", however this may be a typo (the subordinate instructed to enter the device details into the website mistakenly thought that it was an Onyx). Certainly the layout of the specs do not seem to match those of the couple of known-Onyx products (M92 & i62HD) from that site that I compared it to -- suggesting that they came from a different source (i.e. a different manufacturer).

As can be seen from the forum pics, "inkBOOK" is the branding on the device -- no "Onyx" or "Boox" to be seen. Yes, it is possible that it is re-branded Onyx (though it makes little sense to go to the trouble of rebranding it, and then still call it an "Onyx" on their website -- further suggesting that this was a typo), but both the button-layout and the icons on them exactly match Boyue standard layout (and are dissimilar to O-B designs) -- and Boyue fairly frequently do rebranded products.

I am therefore fairly confident that this is a Boyle-manufactured, not an Onyx-manufactured, device.

Well, I hope you are right, for the sake of anyone who will buy the device. My experience with my Boyue T62+ has been much better than that with my Boox T68!

it's seem like we read the same forums
the artatech representative on that forum said that trademark isn't onyx but inkbook. he doesn't answer straight who is responsible for manufacturing this peace of hardware.
But as someone noticed here, on their webpage they marketing this device as inbook Onyx it's very likely that they used word onyx because their introduced this trademark in Poland so they dont want to start from zero to marketing new device. This device has so many similarities to Boyue so it's probably from boyue factory. I asked him what's origin of this device? So we should wait for answer.

The inkBook device seems to be an E-Ink Carta Boyue T62+ (T62D aka Energy eReader Pro+) without audio output and with a smaller battery! Or more accurately we could probably call it Boyue T61 (aka Icarus Illumina E653) with 8GB of internal memory and the E-Ink Carta panel; also the physical buttons look like T61's not T62's.

It's slightly slimmer than the T61 as well (though I agree, it is closer to that than to the T62) -- 159×117×7 mm versus 160 x 123 x 8.5 mm -- so still appears to be a new (if derivative) chassis.

InkBOOK is rebranding Bouye model T61D (without audio) with 8GB of internal memory and the E-Ink Carta screen. It has a different color, integrated 2GB disk in the cloud... Distributed, serviced and supported by Arta Tech.
Also, the software is nearly identical to the Illumina E653, Energy eReader Pro, or Boyue T62+.

I bought an Onyx T68 from Amazon that was the Arta Tech version. It had so many defects it was ridiculous. I will never buy an Arta Tech device again. Luckily Amazon is good for returns.

It will be interesting to see if this inkBOOK/T61D-Carta/whatever-we-wish-to-call-it becomes available through any other channels. Banggoods, which seems to be the main (sole?) international channel for un-rebranded Boyue eReaders, has been out of stock of all models for some time.
