As I play around and get to know the device, the h2o is becoming my default kobo reader.

the unit arrived with a 55 percent battery charge but by the day's end it was in need of a charge.. after attaching the charging cord I noticed a progress value on the sleep screen, I could actually watch the charging progress as the unit charged: 31 percent jumped to 33 percent, etc. Pretty cool, never noticed that in any previous kobos.

I havent bothered with a cover yet so I threw the h2o into an old tablet sleeve I had stuck away in a drawer and headed to lunch. As I was enjoying my sandwich I had a lady ask about the h2o and was pleased to be able to show her how beautiful a reader it is.

I am as happy with this reader as I could hope for.

I charged mine for an hour or two immediately after receiving it (it took time to transfer around 600-ish books onto the device and then for the Kobo to process them all anyway) and then read through an entire book pretty much in a sitting or two in a few hours and the charge dropped from 100% to around 97%. Seems to hold a charge much better than my Paperwhite did. Those of you who are having problems with it holding a charge could be because you didn't charge it fully before using it, might want to try doing this and then rebooting the device to be safe.

Also a thing I was kind of wondering, but is it normal to find at least one little pinhole imperfection on the lighting surface? (Tiny very bright spots when it's lit basically.) I had one on my Paperwhite and was disappointed to find that my H2O had one as well, though it was not as big as the one the Paperwhite had. Is that pretty normal with these kinds of devices, or did I just get unlucky again?

I had one bright spot on mine and thought I might have to take it back, but remember reading somewhere to try applying firm (but not too firm) pressure on the bright spot and it might take care of the problem. Anyhow I did just that and it worked like magic. It's gone and never returned.

I tried that but it didn't seem to help and I got scared I would damage the screen so I stopped. It's only really visible from certain angles though so I can probably just ignore it.

It's not normal and just unlucky, unfortunately. That said, the Paperwhite's seemed to suffer from them quite badly. I went through quite a few PW1's due to color hue issues and more had pinholes then didn't. I can't speak for the H20.

I've had a kobo glo, 3 paperwhites (the ol' receive-one-and-send-back-one-for-replacement game) 2 kobo aura HD's (dropped both, cracked screen) and now an H2O. Each device had either color hue issues or imperfections in the lightning layer or dust beneath the screen... or some other quirky thing.
At least in my experience, there is no truly spotless, flawless, perfectly even ereader-screen out there... feel free to prove me wrong, though.

Most of the issues I've seen seem to center around the frontlightling. So yes, I'd have to agree that I haven't seen an ereader with totally even side to side, top to bottom lighting. OTOH, most of the devices have what I would consider to be acceptable lighting, not perfect but not bad enough to interfere with my reading pleasure.

Other people may disagree but that is their right and they can vote with their wallets just as I do.

Both my Aura HDs had light-guide imperfections. Luckily though, they are (or were) quite small and I find I never notice the ones on my current HD unless I specifically look for them.

H2O ghosting

I've just received my Kobo H2O and it's amazing!
The only issue is the ghosting effect that you can see in the pictures.
Kobo1.jpg shows the ghosting of the previous page just after the full refresh (page turn - refresh - page turn again).
Kobo2.jpg shows a ghost white line near horse's legs.
Kobo3.jpg shows a white section just after full refresh.
I would like to hear from you if this level of ghosting is normal or my unit it's defective.
Thank you

I have ghosting on mine that matches your first picture. I can't actually spot the defects in your other two photos.

Count me in too. Same with my PW2 despite that supposedly was something to be a thing of the past.

Last photo show a page with no flaw. In the 2nd there are two lines that don't belong to the picture but it's a "white" ghost.
I don't know if I've to keep it or send it back.

Only you can make that call, I've had issues of one kind or another with every e-ink reader I've owned. Colour blobs, pin pricks, I've even just spotted a slight bright spot on my H20 screen, but it's not bad enough for me to send it back.

Give it a few days, if it still bugs you then return it.

Did you try firmly pressing on the spot? Worked magic for me.

Yes I did and it did seem to help. It's in the middle of the screen so it's only noticeable if I get a chapter that ends above the spot. I can't see it on the home screen as I have a tile over it.

It's not a pin prick as I have a couple of those on the Aura, this was more a slighty brighter hue in a tiny part of the screen.
