I spoke to the manager in WH Smiths Uxbridge today. He appeared to be slightly knowledgeable and have some interest in ereaders. He hadn't seen the H2O on any paperwork but he has promised to look into it on Monday and to get back to me. I'll post again if I hear any more.

I've attached the two images for those who just want to see them. I dunno... the Kobo just looks too big . They did go to the trouble of adjusting the brightness to the same level instead of complaining that at 50% the Kobo was brighter than the Paperwhite.

But look at the ratio of screen to bezel on the Kobo vs the PW. Kobo wins hands down.

The new Voyager will be even smaller. It's slightly bigger than the 6inch Aura. But that's better for my handbag.

For me, perfect combination is:

- kobo for reading at home
- kindle for reading outside, when you go to beach, pool, holidays etc

I did just get my email from Kobo on Friday for my UK ordered H2O, but their marketing seems to be awful though...

Have you pre ordered from Kobo then? How was the process and do they give any indication of where it's shipping from?

I think it's more accurate to say that the new Voyage is slightly smaller than the Paperwhite. It is still significantly larger than the Aura.

I find the Aura an ideal size.

The Voyage is closer in size to the Kobo Glo. In fact, the Voyage is slightly taller.

Voyage 6.4 x 4.5 x 0.30 in
Glo 6.2 x 4.5 x 0.4 in
Aura 5.9 x 4.49 x 0.32 in

The voyager is a bit taller than the Aura, I worked it out before I ordered it as its a replacement for the Aura I'm after, the width and depth is roughly the same. I've ordered a case for the Voyage that I'll get before the device. I'll know for sure then.

Hi, I spend a lot of time on Mobileread but mostly as a lurker (so thank you to everyone who posts all the great information here).

I saw your post and have to ask about it because I'm also in the US and would love to order the H2O. I looked at the return policy at chapters.indigo.ca and it says "Kobo eReaders must be returned to one of our Chapters, Indigo or Coles stores." Have you ever had to return an ereader?

I have never paid attention to deals on Kobo e-readers in the past. I know the H2O is going to retail for $179.99 tomorrow on the US website, but Black Friday is ~8 weeks away.

What is a realistic expectation of what discount it may have during the Christmas season?

Someone else asked that and of course all we can do is speculate--and the speculation is that it's selling extremely well. Ergo, they may not have to discount. But no one knows...

From past experience, I wouldn't expect Kobo to offer a discount so soon. You might see a third-party seller offer a Black Friday deal, but if you're in a country where your only purchase option is direct from Kobo I wouldn't count on it.
