Earlier, grilled oysters, shrimp and grits, collard greens, fried green tomatoes, carrots, hoecakes, green beans, fried pickles, iced tea and bread pudding with brandy sauce.
I seem to remember a couple of BBQ ribs too. |

Ben. I'm just guessing now. But I don't think that you're Japanese.

Grilled flank steak, grilled asparagus and grilled red peppers. Mmm... mmm! I'm in awe at how well that grill cooks. I am surprised that there's that much of a difference.

My weekly vegetable delivery was today, so for lunch I sauteed some collard greens, ruby swiss chard, and Vidalia green onions in olive oil. Very fresh and good. I ate some raw carrots with it for some crunch!

http://www.farm2uonline.com/bluebird/index.cfm I pay a $25 fee for 6 months, then order as needed. I don't have to pay up front, so I usually just pay weekly, $15 for a quarter share. That's meant for one person, but it's quite a bit of food, even now. And it's a multi-farm CSA so I get a good selection. I highly recommend it if you have one near you! Did I spend $15 a week before on fresh veggies? No, probably not, but I spent that same amount on non-fresh, less nutritional stuff. It challenges me to try new things, too. And the pick-up point is at the Dept of Natural Resources office about 10 minutes from my house. |

I worked with a stunning girl who started dieting and running to loose a little weight. She just wouldn't stop though. It's one thing to look at someone like that and shake you head. But it's VERY sad to see someone that you know go down that path. |

This may belong on the Rant thread, but I'll do it here where there are people who could sympathize.
When I was a boy in the '50s & '60s, I'd eat a juicy tomato as I watched TV. Just loved them. The tomatoes in the stores are developed to be machine picked. My childhood tomatoes could never have been machine picked. I've noticed NO improvement in the so called "organic" tomatoes either. They're all thicked walled with thickened inner partitions. Lord knows what kind are bread bred for tomato juice (which, strangely, I hate). Everything that I've tried to grow, dies, and there's no hope left in me for a good tomato.
