I agree that there can be plenty to dislike about both of them. If B&N or eReader.com
or Fictionwise aren't offering a book I may be interested in, at a realistic price, I wouldn't
buy it from them either. One of the reasons I feel it is worth the time and effort to learn
how to disinfect my purchases, is to allow for the most options, for my purchases. (This
is also part of the reason I like the fact that the JBL supports so many formats.)

I do find it is more convenient to deal with B&N's DRM than Amazons. A large
difference in price might be a valid reason to suffer through the inconvenience, though.
Also, for the books that interest me, I haven't noticed that there were much difference
in price between B&N and Amazon, over time.

Luck;
Ken

JB at newegg

the Jetbook (white version) has been on sale at newegg.ca for $89.99 including shipping. For us Canadians who cannot get amazon items shipped across the border, this is a GREAT DEAL, and the price sure is right!

Re Amazon and its DRM--I am baffled why Amazon wants to cut me off as a customer because I had the temerity to purchase a non-Kindle. How does it benefit them to drive me to other sources now for e-books? I just don't get it.

I've familiarized myself with cabbages and snakes, but not one of the Kindle for PC books I tried will work--all are topaz. (These are their non-public domain freebies.) So Amazon has now lost my book business--how is this good for their bottom line?

There are plenty of alternatives to Amazon for your ebooks, for now at least.

I have been pretty lucky with my Amazon purchases and haven't run into Topaz that
often. I just bought "The New Road to Serfdom" from them a few days ago and it was
not a problem.

Luck;
