and if I search for my real name, I only get some linkedIn pages and other persons I only know by name (as it is my own

Don't often Google myself -- maybe monthly to see what's developed -- but I set a Google Alert for BeWrite Books, all our titles and all our authors. Have maybe twenty alerts a day about new stuff appearing here and there on the net. The alert system is a must, by the way, for anyone here who has a book out, either through a publisher or self-pubbed. Cheers. Neil

its a very good idea to google your real name from time to time, because your employer can do that, too. In case you need to come up with a good excuse ....

As for googling my boardname ... makes not much sense I guess

For my name here I get various other forums and such where I use the same screen name. Under my real name I get a variety of other sites and quite a few that aren't even me.

My long username is unique, but it was nice to see some of my posts here at MobileRead were referenced from some blogs in Korea.

I did...got hundreds of thousands of hits. Turns out there is a writer of books for students with titles like "Go round the world on 15 pence and a bottle of Dettol a month"* with the same name as me.

*Just to save you the bother of Googling that title, I made it up to protect the innocent

i googled my name and came back with a doctor in m.i.t in the usa and my screen name came back it is scary so many boards that are supposed to be secure but its a laugh some boards i have used yrs ago
