@cymbole. but we must "clean" the pdf first. i want to know how to get rid of the $@#% we dont really need.

amazon convert will only clean up the paragraph formatting.

to remove other stuff - one easy way is convert to .rtf with calibre. open .rtf in MS word, apply lots of find / replace, save, then have calibre convert the saved .rtf to mobi.

you can also have MS word auto-format the entire document but it tends to overdue it & invent entra headings n stuff :-)

I find the above easier than figurinn how to progam calibre to do all of it.

Calibre allows for header/footer removal which should be able to get rid of most of "the $@#% we dont really need"

You can find this option in the structure detection part of the conversion options.
Edit to add: There's even an introduction into how to do it.
