Yessss; after this update I can use the searchfunction without my Kindle freezing on me and having to reboot twice. I never could use that function and see any results till this moment.

Hurah and all that.

Edit: facebook/twitter works fine also.

Hmm. The B00A update seems to be wrong. The outer package has the correct device type but the internal package is for the B006 model.

[edit]Guess they're all like that now as B008 and B00A both have the same internal package as B006. Amazon bundle otaup with the 3.0.2 update as well.[/url]

They changed:

The WiFi driver.
The eInk driver.
The browser.
Topaz stuff.
Mobi stuff.
Character set stuff.

And a bunch of other minor changes to various parts but those were the big changes.

Nice catch! I did notice it's still using the same crazy 'let's drop an init script in the middle of the boot process!' way, but I didn't check further than that, I got sidetracked by the pretty otaup script in the support tgz, and then I was too busy banging my head against the wall for missing the obvious working jailbreak method... >_<"

Okay. The two different sets of patches and two kernels are because it lets you update from 3.0 and 3.0.1. Duh ><

Just tested my graphite Kindle wifi with 3.0.2 in full, hot sun for 30 minutes. Page refresh was zippy throughout! Did the same test a couple of days ago with my Kindle and 3.0.1 and had serious lagging after only about 5 minutes. Problem appears solved for my machine.

Just installed it. Page refreshes don't seem "rougher" to me. There's no sun out so I can't test that.

I had page turn slowing in full sun, shade, even lamp light. After the update I have been reading outside for a couple of hours with no problems at all. I am very happy with the fix. Others have reported faster web speeds as well.

Seems to be a bug in the sort by most recent. It is putting the most recently read book toward the end. Open another book, and it puts it just in front of the previous, but still at the end of the list instead of the front. Sent feedback to Amazon already.

Mine is sorting properly with 'most recent' coming on the first page. Maybe restart it?

On a sidenote, slightly related to the slow page turn issue, they added a crapload of logging about the temp of the eInk controller (I think?) in this update... (Or maybe that's since 3.0.1, it's been a while since I checked my logs).

What might "character set stuff" cover?

A bunch of pango-related stuff. Might improve the Chinese on Home screen issue, who knows.

This is not a bug. It is a result of the Kindle not in correct time/date sync with your content (such as after a reset). All you need to do is turn your wireless on and sync once.
