I pre-ordered them at the Sony stores. My sales rep is an assistant manager that's been working there for like 4 years. He suggested I put down a $50 deposit and just like he said, it will arrive on the 17th but I didn't pick it up till the 18th.

Hello all. I own a K3, and a 350 (also a 300 & 505). I'm sending the 350 back. I found the screen simply too small, and the fact that is is *recessed* into the unit was less pleasant than the near-flush Kindle. Better build quality than the K3, for sure, though.

Just wondering, did you find the screen size of 300 big enough? I think both 300 and 350 are 5" screens.

That is basically why I bought a silver 350 yesterday

I like it a great deal, compared to my Opus and Nook. The light weight is fabulous, it is easy to operate silently, with one-hand. The Pearl screen is amazing compared to the Opus, although only a moderate improvement over the Nook. The dictionary is fabulous. My eBook-Lite (see signature) fits it perfectly and lights it evenly.

However, I'm not 100% sure I'll keep the 350. My reservations are:
It gets top-heavy when you add a clip light.
The silver bezel is very shiny and reflects back any light.
I don't like the Sony's font (I'm reading the PDF posted but the process to change them looks intensive).
I really want WiFi for Wikipedia.

I also played with the Kindle 3 at Best Buy. It was a display model with a set of rotating screens, so I didn't get a sense of the software, but the buttons are a lot quieter than the Opus and Nook. But no library support! And I loathe the Kindle fonts.

The 950 looks like it is the same size as the Nook. If it really does only weigh 8oz, I'm interested. But if it is 10+ oz, I'm not. And it is probably the same shiny silver

I really just wanted the 650 with WiFi. I don't even need the 3G. Darn you Sony...

Thanks for your response Thy. I am feeling more inclined to keep my 350. So far, I am finding it much handier than my old 600. The screen size does not bother my eyes, and as the resolution is the same, the 350 looks better. I am beginning to wonder if Sony will kick itself for making the 350 too good, as customers like us, who planned to buy a 650 ended up with a 350. Fortunately it is not my problem. Indeed, at this point, it is hard to image how they will improve on it.

Can you confirm that when both devices are set to the smallest text size, the 650 shows more words on a page then the 350?

I read a review from someone else, which stated that they do show te same amount of words.

Sony online claims 650 is "out of stock." Weird.

The PRS-650 popped up available briefly this morning, been watching them since I placed my order Saturday. They told me mine would ship out Thursday, but it says updated shipping to today as of this morning, so I am hopeful. It appears they are getting a lot more traffic than they expected on the 650

I've been in search for my camera for the past week. I'll post pictures of both devices when I find it.

That would make it easier for me to hold in either hand and relieve my thumb and is related to some choir folders that have a strap for holding.

I'm going to try to attach something like this to my present reader. Haven't quite figured out how to do it, but I pass the thought on to you for implementation! And of course, if anyone knows if such a cover is already produced, please let me know!

Where did you buy your 650/350? What is the return policy?

You should look at the Tuff-Luv covers. The cover opens vertically and flips over the top. It can be secured in the open position. This makes a pocket you can slide your hand into behind the reader. This makes for very easy and comfortable one-handed reading with the touch screen. I have one for 600 and 505 and highly recommend them.

strap for holding ereader Here's a choir folder

Thanks Induna. That's certainly the best so far! I'll see if I can find one to try.

Here's a choir folder with a strap:

Look at the bottom photo for one strap. My fantasy is of an eReader holder with straps like this on the spine or on the back.

I ended up buying a 350 because I couldn't wait for the 650. I plan on returning in exchange for a 650 when they get them in the sony style store.

I feel that the 5" screen is too small. I already have a 4" screen cell phone that I can read on and also that is pocketable.

Also when I travel on a plan I'd rather have an mp3 player on my reader so I don't have to be carrying a separate mp3 player and not using up my cell phone battery life(if i'd use my cell phone for an mp3 player).

Just sucks waiting for it

Here are some pictures comparing the 350 and 650 on the same page. Sorry for the bad image quality. I couldn't find my camera to do super macro so I had to borrow my friends camera and it doesn't do macro well....but you guys got the idea.

Thanx for the effort, think i will go for the 650. I'm a fast reader, so the more text on a page, the better. Also love the black frame...
