Hemlock and the Wizard Tower has received a new four star review from an indie book blogger:
"I was surprised and pleased with the way the book developed--especially how italicized flashbacks were used to really explain where the characters came from."
"This book is well worth the .99 that it is selling for, and there is a second book planned for sometime in 2012. A great story with some fantastic characters--well done all around."

I have been interviewed, and the result is posted today on http://indiebookblogger.blogspot.com/ . I was asked some interesting questions, and I describe some things about Hemlock and the Wizard Tower that have never been discussed publicly (OK, I'm excited about it, and one has to promote these things, right?).

FREE 3rd edition of Hemlock and the Wizard Tower

A new edition (3rd) of Hemlock and the Wizard Tower is available. It is the result of months of learning about indie e-publishing and what goes into a successful e-book. It is also the result of a re-assessment of my own abilities as an editor.

I fell into the same trap that I think many first time authors do. I let the excitement of completing my first novel overshadow my concerns about editing and quality control. I did spend over a year (part time) editing and proofreading, but, upon reflection, it still wasn't enough. This 3rd edition is the version that I wish I had initially presented to the world. I humbly present it now in the hope that some readers will give it a chance.

Hemlock and the Wizard Tower
3rd Edition
* Professional Re-Edit
* New Regional Map
* New Glossary of People and Places
* New Table of Contents

As an act of contrition, I am offering the 3rd edition for free for one week. My hope is that anyone who purchased a prior edition will take advantage of this offer and upgrade. I also encourage anyone who has not purchased a prior edition to try this one. I only ask that you consider posting a review if you enjoy it.

As a tribute to the Indie Book Blog, I am hosting the Smashwords 100% off coupon there LINK. There are many great indie book reviewers out there (GraceKrispy!) but Scott at the Indie Book Blog has done the most (recently) to help me get exposure for Hemlock and the Wizard Tower. He has also been very supportive of a number of other lesser known indie fantasy authors, and directing some traffic his way is my small attempt at re-paying him.

Thanks for reading, and go grab a free copy of the novel!

A new four star review for Hemlock and the Wizard Tower:

"I truly enjoyed this story. Character development was good. I liked how Hemlock went from rooftop vigilante to a very believable heroine whom people looked up to. I liked the author’s use of italics to portray flashbacks. What I really enjoyed, though, was how everything flowed so smoothly. The inner circles of the Wizard Guild, the different sections of the city, the outlying lands, etc."

Read the full review at the links below in my sig.

In other news, progress is slow but steady on the sequel to Hemlock and the Wizard Tower, which is tentatively titled "Hemlock and the Dangerous Depths".

Finally, if anyone who purchased the book doesn't have the third edition yet, please drop me a line. It is much improved.

Nice, seems really good

I'll pick it up when I can, I tend to buy from Amazon, but if you receive more for your work at Smashwords I'll have to see how to buy there (only grabbed a few freebies, so I don't know how does the paid books work)

It's good to know that this will have a sequel, I love books with continuations

Thank you, AkumaTakeshi! I have a preference between Smashwords and Amazon (given their relative profit structures), but this is about you and your convenience, first and foremost. No worries, either way!

Working on the sequel is proving to be quite fun. You can follow my progress on it (and read my other misc. ramblings) at http://www.wiztower.com.

I'm going to be interviewed by John Rakestraw on his weekly internet radio program "John Rakestraw Talks" TODAY at 1:30pm eastern time (10:30am pacific). Every author loves to talk about their writing, so I'm sure it's going to be a blast. Here is a link where you can listen to the program: John Rakestraw Talks.

New 4 star review of Hemlock and the Wizard Tower at Amazon.com:

"The author sets up an ever changing possibility of world events that should make a second in the series both easy to read and yet seem like an old friend returned with new adventures to relate.

I do recommend the reading of this book for all ages... "

New 5 star review of Hemlock and the Wizard Tower at Amazon.com:

"B. Throwsnaill has blown me away on this work. 'Hemlock And The Wizard Tower' is superbly crafted. Memorable characters and thoroughly full of all you'd expect when buying a Fantasy book. 10 Stars without a doubt. Great Fantasy is making a comeback and this is one of the true greats. 'Hemlock And The Wizard Tower' is an instant classic. "

A really cool, new review of Hemlock and the Wizard Tower was posted to the "Best in Fantasy" Blog yesterday.

Also of note is the news that the sequel called "Hemlock and the Dead God's Legacy" is due out this spring.
