Unfortunately, there is no way the dimensions are correct. Real 950s have been in people's hands, and show that the height/width is roughly the same, while the thickness is smaller than the 900.

2 inches thick should be a huge clue that the dimensions are likely the packaging dimensions, not the unit itself. There hasn't been an E-reader shipped that is more than 1", let alone more than 2" thick.
Hope you are right but doubt it. ABT is advertising the 950 with the same dimensions.

Take a look at this again: http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-...ds-on/#3315563

900 right next to a 950 (both functional). You can tell right away that the width is the same, and the height is roughly the same. The thickness is better on the 950 as well.

So why would something that is thinner than the 900 (which is already 0.38 inches thick) be 2 inches thick?

Seriously, the only thing about Sony's Readers that has ever been more than 1" thick is the packaging. This is an obvious red flag that the wrong numbers got entered into the wrong field somewhere, and ABT is just pulling those same numbers.

And guess where ABT probably got their info from...

Called Sony Support today concerning this issue. He noted the apparent discrepancies on the 950 and gave me a case number and the "second level" will respond to my inquiry. As soon as I receive an answer, I will post it here on this thread. He had a 900 and 950 side by side, but stated he would not be authorized to measure it and give me the dimension over the phone.

@Kolenka, why go to second hand sources like Engadget when you can go directly to the Sony Style website?

It is obviously very thin as seen in the attached photo:

Sony today posted more information about the PRS 950SC along with information already known about the PRS 650. The photos you mention are closer to reality than the dimensions originally posted by Sony. There are a few significant facts on the Sony web site: The thickness dimension is identified as .38 inches; the weight is 9.6 onces;apparently the unit initially is only in silver; and referring to the WiFi component of the new reader Sony states: "content outside the Reader Store and Google Books will not be available for wireless download" - only through your computer.

What?! There is no black version?! Why? How can you have pink in the others and not even have basic black with the 950? It's miuch easier to read ePaper with a less distracting matte black bezel because the less shiny finish prevents reflections.

There seems to be some ambiguity as to whether the actual (eventual) 950's will be silver or black.
