My experience K2 international
I have a kindle 2 international registered as US based and had no problems getting books by 3g in France, Chile and Israel.

So, the K3 3G web browser doesnt work internationally, but the original K2I does. Makes the K2I rather more valuable then, doesnt it!
zorzal, it isnt the getting the books from Amazon that is the problem, it is general web browsing. And this is for the K3, not the k2. Last edited by Pushka; 09-09-2010 at 04:54 AM. |

Kindle 3 (3g) worked for me last week in Netherlands. Tried accessing some kindle blogs, no problem opening websites. Got some freezing and needed to restart after browsed some complicated sites, though.

@imradis
What kind of Kindle did you order? The US version or the international version? Maybe that's where the difference in web acces is. I'm still wondering if I should order the international version. It seems as though you pay the same for the international version, but you get less (no charger, just the cable...) |

I'm trying to figure this out also. What I understand is that the US version and Intl versions of the Kindle differ in the 3G card (UK/EU has Vodaphone vs the US carrier). Please correct me if I am incorrect.

Kindles sold in the UK have a Vodafone SIM in them. I don't know if that also applies to those sold in Europe via "amazon.com". Perhaps someone who's bought a Kindle in Europe from amazon.com could tell us - the network is printed on the box.

I`m planning to buy a Kindle 3G to use it in Finland.
So THE BROWSING IS FREE, but if you want to SAVE/DOWNLOAD files on your Kindle it cost the transfer rate? right? What about downloading using the Wi Fi connection, does that cost too? And do you have to register the device to use these web services, because if you don`t, how will they know who to charge from? |
