Crikey that's dear, I only paid $244AUD for the Kindle 3 including del costs, did you buy it from Aussie Sony or US Sony.
I will still buy a Sony 650 anyway even if that is the going AU price, because I think its a better product regardless of the DRM issues.

Has anyone in Australia noticed that the Harvey Norman (ostensible) nemesis Kogan is selling an eReader for $189, wonder who the manufacturer is?

Hi Tony,

I just contacted the Sony Store on the Gold Coast and they are saying delivery isn't until mid next week. I'd love to know the 650 handles scanned PDFs in landscape mode with zoom enabled, such as the one attached below. I would appreciate any feedback, would also understand if you are too busy playing with your new toy!

Cheers, Nick

The Sony store in melbourne city just sold out on all the prs 650(black). They only have red ones left and all the covers are sold out too. They said they will get more in stock by next Tuesday. Had a play with the prs650 touch edition and I noticed that the white is whiter and the black is blacker as compared to my K3.

Thanks, Tony, that's good news.

I really want to see it and handle it before I buy it, but I'd certainly be interested in your comments when you get it. I guess it will be in the shops soon, but whether it gets as far as darkest Launceston is another matter.

Regards, Alex

Just bought a black PRS-650 from the Sony Center in Prahran. They didn't have the covers with lights though but expect them by Monday or Tuesday.

I bought the last 650 at the Sony Centre in Adelaide yesterday. So far I love it, though have only bought 2 books for it because the publishing world sucks and doesn't want me to spend my Aussie dollars but that's a whole different story.

It was too expensive really ($350 with a case) but there were several reasons I didn't want a Kindle and it of all the devices available on the ground here it was the one that looked best for my needs.

My 350 was bought from the Sony Centre at World Square, Sydney. They had plenty in stock, though only in the one colour of silver. I've been playing with it and loving it so far, though some things do gnaw at me, like how the ereader sorts authors.

Although I think $220 AUD's a reasonable price for the 350 compared to the cost of the Kobo and the Kogan, I'd forgotten how expensive the accessories can be too. I'll have to go in some time and pick up a cover, though $45 for it does make me cringe...
