Thanks to you both. But I'm confused by 'booklist' and 'main booklist'.

Do you mean the Reader Library screen which appears when one connects the reader to the computer? There are the options in the upper right corner to show by icons or list, but I don't remember seeing anything like a menu. I guess I'd better look again.

Regards, Alex

Sorry for the confusion. No, I mean on the reader itself. From the Home screen, tap on "Books/See all" in the middle section, so that it displays the thumbnails of all the books you currently have on the reader. Now look in the upper right corner, and you will see a notation that says "by date" or "by author" (I do not remember how it was set up by default). Tap on that, and you will get the dropdown menu.

Thanks, that works for me - at least it sorts by the first word in the author's name.

Does anyone know if there is a low battery warning or message that displays when the battery is critically low? or maybe somewhere in the menu that shows the battery percentage?

No battery percentage but once the Reader reaches a zero bar status there will be a popup window in the middle of the screen telling you to charge. You will be able to read for a day or two before the battery completely discharges.

Has anybody cracked how to see the time on a 350? Just upgraded and pleased as punch with the size weight responsiveness and clarity.

I think I read that if you press Options, the clock displays briefly in the status bar.

You are correct. I've only seen this when pressing Options while in a book.
