Toast is the kitchen's killer app.

Apple's new iToast includes a shuffle feature to let find your favorite; rye, whole wheat or pumpernickel. It's $600 but includes a lanyard so you can enjoy your toast on the go.

Sony's Toastman is smaller, but it can only brown about half a slice at a time, and you have to use special Sony metric toast that's not yet widely available.

Microtoast's offering allows you to send snippets of toast to your friends wirelessly, but the toast disappears after they've had three bites.

3 things you cannot do with an ebook:

- burn it on those cold winter days
- smash a fly
- balance a chair when it waggles

That's not true!

My iLiad will burn just fine - as long as you don't mind the toxic fumes the plastic and other burnables would produce.

I could smash that fly flat with with my eBook - if I didn't mind breaking my eBook too.

And it can balance a chair just fine - as long as you didn't mind making 2 legs unbalanced - as well as breaking the eBook in the process.

I bet you cannot fold it into a paper airplane though!

plus, pages of a paper book can be very well compressed by hand... no computing power is needed

But if I toss it like a Frisbee, it will fly pretty far.

And I'll bet the compression on my iLiad will make smaller books than your paper ones.

Your Iliad will brick soon enough that you'll be able to do all these things without worry.

I've only got one magazine subscription left. They're on line, but they had the decency to make the site a complement to the mag. It's a woodworking trade mag, I have every issue from the beginning but I'm afraid I'll let them go soon since they are now geared for newbies. It's become 'seen this done that' to me.

Web mags will be great when we get our eink a4 color.
