Those facts are true, but nonetheless ePub is an open, public standard, and Mobipocket (used by the Kindle) is not. You seem to be confusing something being a standard with it being the most popular.

However, outside the local US market, ePub is most assuredly the dominant format.

There really isn't a best 6" device for PDF. They are all lousy at handling letter sized/A4 PDF. None of them do a particularly good job and you really won't care for any of them if PDF is what you really want/need.

That's absolutely true, Jon, but some 6" readers are less awful at handling PDFs than others are. Top of the "awfulness league" would probably be the Kindle 2 or 3, which supports no form of reflow whatsoever and on which reading an A4 PDF is quite simply impossible. Devices which support reflow - eg Sony, the Neo, etc - can do a pretty decent job with PDFs that are primarily text. You'll probably get line breaks in funny places, but the text is readable.

Of course I own all the devices in my profile - why else would I list them? Sure, post a PDF here (an out of copyright one, please) and I'll be happy to photograph it on the Neo. With reflow, however, tables, illustrations, etc, generally disappear.
