My new Kindle should be arriving any day, and this is the one thing that worries me. That it's so easy to buy books, yet I won't have any more time to read than I do now (at least not until the end of the year). I already have a collection of unread print books! I'm hoping that having an e-reader again will motivate me to make more time for reading. Maybe I'll set a monthly budget.

I haven't looked back since getting my Nook. I am reading far more. With two kids, going in to the bookstore meant babysitting them there, as opposed to home, rather than actually doing what I was in there to do--look for something interesting the read. When I did look, I didn't see anything worth buying--all the same.

With my Nook, I can shop anytime from home and am reading a lot more than I had been. With free books, I can try out more authors without feeling like I'm wasting money if I don't like a book, and I can try out all the fellow indie authors. There are far more options for my reading pleasure, and I've rediscovered what I used to love about reading.

oh boy i still haven't started buying en masse but i do have the experience of "reading when you're definitely supposed to be doing something else like... erm... work?"
usually i can't wait to get home to finish this book or start another (even if it's something i've already read like... 100 times <-- pathetic i know, actually i haven't read anything new in almost a month. bought a couple of books but i've stubbornly decided to wait and read them on the K3)
it's one of the reasons why i resolved NOT to take my K3 (whenever it arrives) with me on trips. we'll see how long that lasts

I used to smoke when I was bored, I quit in February and now I read instead. I'm not sure which addiction has cost me more

Well smoking is bad for your health.

Well for me, the most enjoyable way to read a book is while sitting in the front porch, with ereader in right hand, and cigarette in left hand...

I think I could take the OP here and replace "ebooks" with pretty much any thing...

...drugs, alcohol, video games, sex, gambling, etc. Obsession and addiction are not limited to "vices"... even a harmless hobby like collecting, shopping, reading can be taken to dangerous extremes.

You will LOVE your Kindle 3 when it arrives. Taking it on holiday is AWESOME. An e-reader is an ideal companion on a long plane ride, a long bus or train ride, and for those moments on holiday when you want to relax form the holiday for a while ....

See, there's another benefit of e-books ... I'm e-reading so much, I have less time for all those other vices!

I'm right there with you. I bought a couple more than I usually do, but I'm hitting the library and free downloads hard.

and when the storylines of the books you are reading contain one or more of those, then it's doubly dangerous .....
