I picked up a used one as a back up, so hopefully I'll be able to hang on for a while. I have no need for a smartphone else I might give the pre a try.

It's to early to tell but I do think the right 7" device could give the ipad a run for its money. Why, simple people like things to be portable. I don't care for the size of the ipad myself it's too big to put into my purse or easily carry around. Isn't that the reason for tablets in the first place portability. For me at least 10" is not portable enough. Besides how many people use their iphone or ipod touch to play games and surf the web. So there you go unless Apple puts out a 7" ipad they will be missing out in that part of the market.

I don't like all in one devices, but I do like devices with lots of features. I too would love a 7" device that could kill the iPad. Not so much for the fact that it was a killer device, but just because it killed the iPad.

Now, with that being said, the Ipad will probably never really die, because there are too many apple fans that will still buy it even if there is other stuff that's better, for cheaper(which the Adam is...)

7 inch is much more portable than 10. If I want to carry an ipad size of device around with me then I would use my smaller laptop (smartpad) which is capable of a lot more. The Galaxy will make a better portable video player, has better screen and also removable storage - micro sd slot. I think it will sell well but plays in a slightly different space (due to its sizing) than the ipad so I dont believe its going to affect ipad sales much

lol, so how many iPads does Apple need to sell before you will admit it isn't just "apple fans" keeping the product alive, but just regular consumers who think it's a worthwhile device?

Excellent - the old "it's sold lots it must be great" argument.

By that logic then the best book ever written is (probably) The Da Vinci Code, the best TV programs ever made are soap operas, Titanic was an infinitely better film than Citizen Kane.....etc

The fact that lots of people buy something is not a reliable indicator of quality.

Nothing to do with being great or quality in my post-did you actually read it?

To me, selling a lot just means you are selling beyond a built-in fan base, imho. For example, the Nintendo Wii pushing video consoles beyond hardcore gamers, etc. Or in this case, (or the iPhone), selling beyond the "apple fan" base and reaching the mainstream.
