I'm a 399-er as well. My mom has that unit now -- I only send her SOME of the books that I read I installed a replacement battery in it, this past April.

I'm using the full price K2 ..... can't for the life of me think why I need a K3, but I might still get one (after my current fiscal crises get solved). I still love my K2! Great device. Even just for a delay in a grocery store checkout line.

I am an original 399er. I haven't used the K1 much at all since I bought my Sony PRS 700. I find now I just prefer ePub, and have purchased a couple more ePubable devices since then.

Still like the K1... the design still has that 1970's Battlestar Galactica appeal to it.

K1 is now happily topped off with a full charge on the original (Jan 2008) battery. I'm sitting here impatiently waiting for the K3 to arrive so I can put my preferred books onto it and clear off the K1 to gift it to my daughter-in-law.
