Got it in March/April of 2008. An occasional power reset when the ereader hangs on bootup and re-charging the battery after the first attempt didn't seem to do the trick. I still use it to read my mobi and pdb ebooks. Very happy with it.

Hello

Ordered mine final of January 2008, got it in the first days of February 2008.

Still my main reader - reported it here several times!

(…)and it still is king at lots of stuff, as… 12 size fonts, any TTF font one wants (I can read in my own handwriting font!), one can bold the font used anytime (talk about less need of extra light at night or in other similar environment)…174 grams weight (reading with just two fingers for hours long) etc…

Ha!… and problems with it… happily zero.

I'm so glad there are users out there who are still happy with their Gen3 . Personally, I wouldn't swap mine for any other device.

But we've got a lot of competition from the Kindle and other wifi ereaders. I like the Gen3's versatility. I recently received the red leather cover for mine as a birthday present, and so now it's smart looking as well as versatile, lightweight, and easy to use.

Thank you, everyone, for responding and feeding my curiosity.

A couple of years, now. It's my second the original went back due to an unresolved issue and they replaced it with an upgrade.
Generally a good buy for me, it does what I want.
Not too happy with the latest firmware, I get way more freezes at start up than I ever had with the original firmware.
But it remains a 'best buy' for me; whilst my PB remains a 'best win' ....

I got my Gen 3 since march 2009. It was my first E-reader.
Never had a single problem with it. I use it every day and I'm very happy with it.

I've had it since June 2009 (very new ) and no problem (except necessary reset, which have disappeared after FW 1.5).

Got mine in January 2008, and had no trouble with it at all until it got crushed in an Indian train carriage in December 2009. It still works, but the screen display's highly temperamental now, so I've switched to my 5" Elonex for most reading, particularly when I'm away from home.

Full marks to Bookeen for such an excellent device. They should have had more credit over the last couple of years for the range of font sizes and fonts, and the really good pdf support available on the Gen3 series.

Had mine since Oct '08 after receiving some very good advice here :-) It has been in just about daily use since with no real problems.

Went back to the Mobi firmware, because I was having the loop / boot issue with those stoopid epub books.

Of course, it had to happen. I tempted fate.

As soon as I started this thread with how happy I was with my Gen3, it started to give me problems.

Either the device isn't registering when the power goes lower than 70% or the battery has a problem. Whichever. When it's working, I still love my Gen3, but it's a real pain when that little green light won't go off and I can't switch the device off because there isn't even enough power to do that.
