Well I went ahead and swapped my kobo so fingers crossed.
Took the opportunity to get a black one - when I bought my original white, they were out of stock for black and I was going on holiday shortly so wanted it in my hand before I was on the flight (thank god for that too!)

Yes. I am so upset. I only achieved 7,212 page turns. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency in my state ...

All kidding aside, I am not sure why Kobo's marketing team published that "8000" figure. No, I am not achieving 8,000 page turns. But I am able to read several books between charges - and the Kobo provides a very satisfying eBook reading experience.

I noticed a definite "change" on readability on my white Kobo after I placed a dark GelaSkin (Van Gogh's "Starry Night" on it. I think you'll like your "darker"frame, too! Let us know.
