I order the wi-fi on 31st and it now shows delivery 30th Sept
the 3G I ordered 3rd Aug it shows delivery 5th Oct.....

yet the UK Kindle page shows order today for Sept 8th delivery !!!!

How can they show early delivery on order page then allocate you a later date !?? I ordered the wifi before they sold out, now its shows delivery of 30th Sept ! Yet if I order today I am told Sept 8th?????????????????

I emailed too, but they tend to send a rubbish reply that means nothing.....will wait and see

EDITED TO ADD- I see estimated dates on the orders summary page where it shows all orders, but when I click on the actual order itself, it still says the old message of we will email with a delivery date.............even more confusing......

Will be most annoyed if the dates are right though, especially when the kindle page shows Sept 8th right now!!

I ordered on the 29. and estimated delivery now shows September 29, 2010 - October 1, 2010.

I assume it's a server glitch with someone punching the wrong number somewhere, since they still give written offers of september 8. (Anything else would be considered fraudulent).

Well on the orders page it is saying the 5th of October for the wifi model and the 6th of October for the 3G + wifi. But when I click on the actual order it is still saying they will email when they know the exact dispatch date.

On the website it is now saying if you order today your device will be dispatched on or before the 8th of September. I'm really confused now but I don't want to wait until October!!

Me too. At least, they should have just stopped the pre-order to wait to be more clear about their ordering situation

I really wouldn't worry about what the ship date says right now. It will change to an earlier ship date. This has happened to me many times at Amazon.

As all orders are prioritised on a first come, first served basis, we will ship your Kindle to you as quickly as possible and will keep you informed by e-mail as we get more precise delivery dates.

I can inform you that the reason as to why the delivery dates for your order are currently stating October is due to the fact that the device will only start being dispatched from the end of this month. Therefore, closer to this date we will be able to provide you with a definite estimated delivery date which will be in early September.

this is from Amazon UK today. I sent separate queries about 2 orders, one I got the standard email blurb, and the second I got this reply which seems more open and to the point we are all worried about.

EDITED TO ADD: this was concerning an order placed 3rd Aug for Sept 4th delivery, by the way.........my order placed on 31st July is still on schedule to ship on release apparently
