I got one of the mini HUGlights... and while I can't speak to Kindle, I've found it very useful with my nook. So far, I have mostly used it around my neck and laying on my side in bed to read.

It emits a rather blue-ish tone light, but you get used to that and otherwise it seems to do a pretty good job. I do sometimes have to re-adjust slightly, but overall, it's been surprisingly comfortable, I hardly notice I am wearing it.

The company was quick to send out the freebies, I was impressed with that! The package claims about a 40 hour battery life, but I've not been keeping track.
