There's nothing evil about owning a bookstore, but every decision the man has to make is going to pass through "How is this going to affect bookstores like mine?" Lowering prices of ebooks? "Hm...that means more people will buy ebooks instead of print copies, which will be bad for my bookstore." Making more content available in ebook format? "Hm...that means more people will buy ebooks instead of print copies, which will be bad for my bookstore." Putting out-of-print backlist content on ebooks? "Hm...that will be more competition for my bookstore."

It seems a pretty basic conflict of interest. Now, if he ran an online, ebookstore, he'd be thinking, "Hm...what can I do to sell more ebooks? Lower the price? Make more content available? Hm?"
