Even if Microsoft manage to get something on the table there's the much awaited Adam with a preliminary U.S release in November. I doubt if Microsoft manage to get something out before November.
What a lot of us are waiting for is a tablet with a computer OS (Win7 min.), expandable memory (4gb min.), and SSD (128gb min. would be nice!), USB and ESATA. I don't want to run apps, I want to run my cad program/renderer & MS Office, thank you very much. In the field. And blow away my clients. REALLY Magical.

iPad doesn't even come close to that.

Blue Dolphin works pretty well as a desktop skin on my Asus T91MT, but once you open an app ... well ... those little Xes and –es and squares are pretty hard to press, especially if they’re right up against the bezel.

It always takes Microsoft a long time to innovate because they have to copy what other companies have already done.

I said they dropped the ball back at the first of the year, when the Courier got axed. A device like that could have given Apple's iPad a real run for the money, but Microsoft goofed it. I hope that whatever they come out with outshines the iPad, at least in terms of O/S (I still don't get the concept of a tablet with a phone O/S on it, but that's just me), but I'm afraid that anything other than a hit completely out of the park will be too little, too late.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that it's not axed, just hiding.

I wanna tell hardware makers: Stop flapping your gums, ship your products and let consumers decide how good they are.

Hi all,

I'm not sure I'd even consider a MS Tablet or whatever they want to call it. I didn't bat an eye when MS released the Zune, and I'm no fan of Apple or MS.

The things I'd like to do a tablet are generally those things my phone is not so good at, but I'd also like to see a bit of versatility, like it being a programmable remote for my audio-visual stuff; a recipe book; perhaps a reader if the screen was good enough; personal calendar, and so forth. Office stuff I can do on my PC or notebook.

I don't care much what the OS is, so long as it works easily and reliably, and I don't trust MS in those areas, nor do I trust its support of its own software.

At this stage, I'd get an iPad before I bought an MS tablet, but I'd buy an Android tablet before either, provided quality was not an issue.

Quite underwhelmed by Balmer's announcement, but I'll wait and see.

Cheers,
