# 3 gets a firm "no" from me.

As for the role of publishers in an e-market -- I see them as doing more or less what they're doing, but stopping just short of the imprinting step. That is, basically a value-added editorial & copy editing service. Sure they'll keep printing physical books, but I expect the quantities will fall off considerably. I'm one of those who doesn't see p-books going away entirely, but rather becoming more of a niche offering. Rather like e-books have been for some time, now that I think about it.

Regarding the issue of advertising, if it's something like google's ads, I don't think it'd be a problem for me. Those ads don't bother me when I read blogs or other web pages, and I don't see why they should bother me while reading an ebook.

I completely agree that the question of how authors are going to be compensated in the future (and that future is beginning right now) is a big problem. Perhaps it warrants a separate discussion.
