Hi SensualPoet

Can you log in http://m.cnn.com/ for example? Using your G3 connection?
The Canada specific wording makes me wonder about the new 3.0 firmware on the upcoming models.

I can do better than that and log directly into mobileread.com.

Seriously, at the moment, on 2.5.3 Kindle 2i, free 3G is open ended in Canada.

The combo Kindle 3 -- 3G + WiFi -- defaults to WiFi wherever it can. The wording on the Canadian terms definitely does sound like 3G is back to Kindle store and wikipedia only.

Updated info re experimental webkit browsing, int'l

Wanted to let you know I've further updated the information on the active web browser availability in various countries.

The general overall update is at http://bit.ly/kwpweb (reference-area article)
- It references a table at Amazon UK

Yes, they are. It's kind of obvious to me, they think like that. How should they afford a few million people surf for free and amazon pays the roaming costs?

Amazon calls it an experimental feature meaning we may end up paying for this service.

pboss,
Amazon has called it an experimental feature since 2007, when they released the Kindle 1. Here's a shot of my Kindle 1, googling: http://bit.ly/grandpa-kindle

The Kindle 3 is the first time their marketing for the Kindles with 3G actually had the following words (on the product page)

"Free 3G web browsing (experimental)"

So I think we're good for at least the next year.

Most of the time, those of us with home/office WiFi are on the WiFi anyway.
