This 'cruz reader' seems to be an iPad competitor, and a little different from a regular eReader, where abouts have you seen them for sale in NZ? I wouldnt mind having a look myself, as Im on the lookout for a reasonably priced device to read colour magazines and comic books.
I was looking at the borders website but just realised that was through the states not NZ for the cruz reader, sorry. But to get the cruz reader from overseas seems to be the cheaper way to go anyway. Its ridiculous how much you have to spend in NZ. Is your sony reader the new pocket edition? Or the 650? Or something similar? I'm liking the sound of the sony 650 but I prefer the price of the pocket edition lol. We don't need one with the whole wifi or 3G features. Just a straight forward e reader will be perfect. A computer is enough for the whole internet browsing and networking etc in my household. Any help with this would be great. Desperately need to get an ereader with Xmas fast approaching.

Mine is the older pocket edition, the 300, cheaper on ebay from the states, than nearly anything here.

Although I just noticed yesterday that Whitcoulls have lowered the price of the Kobo to $200, which is about right if you ask me.

If it had been $200, rather than the $300 it was 6 months ago, I probably would have gotten a Kobo locally rather than doing the ebay thing.

Having said that I really like my Sony, it handles nicer than the Kobo, which seems a bit cheap in comparison, although it had some extra features the little Sony doesnt have.
A friend of mine has just got the new pocket edition, and says its really good.

We need to replace our 2 kindles that got nicked from the beach in spain last week.
We're moving back to NZ in 6 months, so this thread caught my eye. if Amazon don't have an NZ presence, where do you buy your e-books from? Do the foreign sites support NZ writers and charts?
Should we be looking more towards the Kobo or Sony?

Hello StrangeKiwi, welcome home. These days you can buy Kindle from major stores in NZ, such as Dick Smith. See link below for more details.

I'm also a NZer -- just picked up (and am waiting on delivery of) an Onyx Boox i62HD (1024x768, IR touchscreen) from China for around NZ$200 (would have been $20 cheaper if I'd picked up the non-HD without the leather case). Admittedly this meant dealing with a Chinese-language website & a purchasing/reshipping agency, but the process was relatively painless.

[Update] It arrived a couple of days ago, and I'm very happy with it.
