Ha! How true and funny.... I have been on a ton (for me) flights recently and it's so very true....

I really thought that Airplane Mode meant you could keep your reader on when other such things had to go off. Good thing you told me, they would have been hustling me off to the pokey!

Well, you only need the device itself turned off during takeoff and landing. Items that transmit data, such as phones, need to either be completely turned off during the flight, or in "airplane" mode, which essentially turns off just the wireless part of it during the flight.
