Glad it has helped!
I have had no problems since then, but will keep that solution up my sleeve in case! Ellie |

Just had a similar problem with my 600 this morning, only 3 months old. Connected it and had a USB failure. The charge light did not come on.
Did a "Hard Power off". Now the laptop recognizes the connection, the power light is on and Calibre sees the device. All is right with the world. ![]() Scared me as something like this destroyed my previous 500. Thanks. Dave |

I always thought that one of the least user friendly features of SONY's Readers is the way it needs to be shut down. I mean - the PRS900 requires you to go to 'settings', then 'advanced settings' to find an option to fully shut it down... I think for the first three months I had it I did not even realize I was just putting it to sleep. And I am sure other users are in my same boat.
And to the OP... sure, well, your tech support was not very bright. But... really... I understand you did not want to do a hard reset... but you did not even try shutting the device down? Please tell me I mis-read. |

That said, you could have read the manual to find out that you can just hold the power switch in off position for five seconds to shut down. |
