Thanks for the update. I've been struggling with the exact same decision. In all reality I've been trying to convince myself that the DX is overkill. How would you rate the overall size and weight of the DX? With how tall it is I've wondered if that makes it unwieldy. What are your thoughts?

I agree completely. I became convinced I needed a DX shortly after reading the middle part of the hardcover version of The Passage. It was pleasant to be able to read that much on a single page. The DXG has been everything I hope for - I am reading it carefully without the case, which I expect tomorrow.

By the way I also could not replace my Kindle with my Ipad. Different animals despite what nearly 100% of the media touts. I could not keep reading with the temptation of the Ipad's other capabilities and it does have a very reflective screen, which I have much problems with, for reading books in highly lit situations. Reading by the window or outside in the morning was difficult for me.

I am keeping my Pad though - it's other attributes make it worth keeping.

It's really about the size of my iPad. I find it perfectly useable. Think reading a paperback va a hardcover. Which do you prefer? On the kindle 2 I found myself making the text very small in order to fit enough on a page. On the dx I can have it a few sizes larger and still fit over twice as much on the screen. It really is almost identical to the hardcover / paperback. I always liked reading hardcovers or large paperbacks. The weight is not an issue to me at all. Both are very easy to handle.

I debated the DX versus K2 for a long time and went with the DX. More on the screen is what sold me. Since I carry a brief case the portability wasn't an issue. The DX works best for me.

I debated the Kindle vs iPad but for reading everyone said get the Kindle. Glad I listened

If choosing between Kindle 2 or DX, i would definitely opt for the KDx, because of the larger space, which makes the reading more pleasant and comfortable to the eyes.
Personally i found better and practical an iPad..it is multifunctional, can be used as a reading, gaming, web, traveling device..it has pretty everything in it
As of reading the Kindle app is just great for that
