OK. Sorry to interrupt. Gotta go and get on my horse and ride into town for my monthly food run. We refuse to get modern and buy a car ...

By the way, Snow Leopard OS X is US$29 - I do not know where you got your "132 pounds" number.

Legally I cannot use the cheaper disk. I have to buy the mac box which has iLife09 etc in it because I am running Tiger not Leopard. That's where I got the £132 from. Please don't talk to me like I'm an idiot you rude person.

Here's a discussion topic on the mac forums about the upgrade: http://discussions.apple.com/thread....5539&#11585539

Yes, you could just use the snow leopard disk, but Apple doesn't want you too. I am concerned that other applications in my computer would not work with Snow Leopard - I've read that Photoshop CS has problems and I use this a lot. I don't want to spent an addition £900 on new photoshop software. As they seem to want me to update iPhoto etc as well I assume that that would have problems with Snow Leopard and I don't want to have to deal with that thank you.

Do you have anything helpful to add or are you going to continue to be an ass?

Well, I probably deserved that. I was a Windows person since the first day it was released. But bought my first Apple - my 17" MacBook Pro - in 2006 ... and have never looked back. Maybe it's because this has been such a life-enriching change that I find it hard for others Mac owners desiring NOT to upgrade to the latest Mac OS.

I didn't respond originally because I wasn't sure what readers would work with Tiger as I moved to Snow Leopard back in December, and computer memory is short. I suspect most other people here are in the same boat - Mac users are infamous for their early adoption, although I usually give it until Apple put out the X.x.1 update.

What version of Photoshop are you running? I (very nervously) updated my 2006 iMac 17" from Tiger to Leopard to Snow Leopard in one shot last December and it went surprisingly well. The only "loss" was an older HP printer that I wasn't sorry to say goodbye to. Technically the HP drivers were in the SL update, but print quality went down on an already marginal printer.

I did buy the $129 Tiger->Snow family pack disk set, because we were also updating DH's Mac Pro. We're running CS3 here, with no intentions of upgrading for another version or so, and have found no issues with it on Snow Leopard. DH's Mac Pro is used for commercial video editing, so it gets put through its paces. He was running a Leopard and a Snow Leopard partition for awhile just in case, and found Snow Leopard much faster and he had less software freezes. And it saved us having to buy him a new Mac Pro! So then I went and used the money we saved on a MacBook Pro, and my daughter is happily using the iMac now. It's been nice having us all on the same version for once.

Separate from the PB360 issue, you might want to partition your main drive and install Snow Leopard yourself and see if you like it. It really does give the early Intels a new lease on life.

Did PocketBook's site say that it was 10.4 compatible? I've got a Cybook Opus that is similar and it shows up as a USB drive in Snow Leopard, and I load books via Calibre to both the internal and external memory. Another option is probably to load books on a microSD card. My guess is that Calibre won't see the card if it is in the PB, since it can't see the PB. Calibre can use the Save to Disk menu to save directly to a card in a card reader, but you might have to check the PB documentation or ask here on what folder they need to be put in for the PB to "see" them.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I have reservations about doing anything to my computer that might cause problems as most of the time I live on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean. I have to pay $20 for 200 mins of internet and I'm not near a computer store if something goes wrong. My computer is my only contact home and with the world during the week so it is VERY precious.... hence why I am so careful. I know enough about computers to get me by but if something goes really wrong I have no help....

I am considering giving up though and just getting a mac book pro. It will be more sturdy for traveling and hopefully it will stop all these problems I have.

...simplyparticular thanks for adding your two cents. I'm running Photoshop CS, which I guess is Photoshop 8. I know, it's old!

To be honest I thought people here would know more about what was compatible with my system than the websites and I hadn't heard of Pocketbook until I came here. That will teach me to do even more research than I did this time :-(

With all due respect, this forum is not a customer service hotline for eReaders. You asked for advice and it was given by end-users just like yourself. I guess there are a few people from eReader companies on the forum, but 99.9% of us aren't eReader or computer professionals. It's unfortunate that the PB360 doesn't work on your computer, but to blame the people on this forum is rather rude. No one said it would specifically work with Tiger on this thread. A couple of people verified it would work on a Mac, but neither said anything about Tiger. The other thread you linked here predated this one by a full 7 months. If you'd searched you would have seen the issues before buying your PB360. The information was there.
