OK I fine I get it I have to softroot my Nook. Done. Now what? Now how do I get to browse by covers?

Use Calibre and calibre2opds to produce a catalog of your books, and to copy that catalog and the books onto your nook. From there, use trook to navigate to (and within) the catalog. There are a bunch of choices about how the catalog is constructed. Look for the calibre2opds sticky thread in the Calibre forum for more information.
