Hi,

I upgraded my Gen3 200MHz because of this. However I didn't notice an improvement (but I might be wrong as I didn't use a stopwatch pre and post upgrade ).

Anyway...

Regarding the "instant on" feature. It creates a pretty cool standby screen from your library but it does consume some power and will eat your battery in a few days. I still prefer to switch it off so I know it will be working next time I want to read.

I've been playing with a beta of this firmware for a little while on my Opus and all-in-all I have to say I'm pretty pleased. The broken library view was a big one for me so I'm happy to see that working again. Shame it took six months for a couple of small bug fixes but at least it's here now.

Thank you Harry for alerting us to this upgrade. Three cheers to Bookeen. This upgrade has made it possible for me to see the Chinese titles on the library page. I have not tried it for other Asian languages but it would be interesting to see if it works for Thai too (another left to right language) as this is what I am learning now.
As far as I am concerned, Bookeen has been very good in its efforts to improve their machines. Even though I have the old 200 MHz Gen 3, I still enjoy using it as much as the day I bought it.
Having Turkish on the menus now means I can persuade my Turkish friends to take the plunge and buy one for themselves.

Look at ronci's post. "I'm unhappy". That all. No given reason, no explanation. We still don't know what's is Ronci's problem.

I regret having updated the gen3 though. Margin cropping gone killed pdf reading... And that's what my father use the gen3 for...

Though for the opus, instant on, no more ade page numbers. Cool

Yeah, caused a few "empty battery" issue.

Actually ronci quoted you in his/her reply suggesting you were the problem. But I'll let ronci speak for him/herself.

Anyway, my intention was to give credit where it's due and provide my positive feedback on the new firmware, not to hijack this thread with another pointless argument with you, so let's just move on.

I was speaking about ronci's first post.

That one. While I **might** guess that the reason is the not supported by old gen3 features, but then, I'm not sure about that.

So, what's making Ronci unhappy ? What does he think bokeen would have done and did not ? Not a clue there.
I hate that "I just want to whine" attitude. Critic if you will, but make explained and constructive critics.

Yes, this is strange. The pdf reading is now useless again. With cropping it was sometimes useful.

i saw a comment somewhere (on the blog maybe) saying that because of some software changes they discovered pdf margin-cropping became unstable, so they preferred to remove it, but they are fixing it and it will be back in a future upgrade (probably the next one).

oh, right:

Quote:
Sorry for the french. That pretty much what zelda said. Nice to know.

They have been available in Archambault in Quebec, Canada for at least six months.

Re: the upgrade, I just installed 2.1 no problem on an 8 gig SD card. Nice upgrade. It's much faster now.

Now I wonder, is it possible to hack the standby screens...?
