They both are 600x800 pixels so a smaller screen just makes the text smaller. In my case, I have to use one size larger text on the smaller screen to make the text comfortably readable, so the larger screen is much more comfortable. With text, the PPI difference is completely unnoticeable but the reduced text size is very noticeable. With my two readers the 4 level grey also produces darker more high contrast text than the 8 level grey, so I am curious about how text will look with 16 level grey?

I'm thinking of getting an EZReader Plus when it comes out.

I just kind of assumed that it will have TTS, so it doesn't?

So could I just load up ECO reader firmware and get that functionality?

Only the Pocket Pro has TTS. Presumeably you could use the ECO reader firmware. But if this a deal-breaker I would suggest that you get someone to confirm the ECO reader works that way before you buy. Sometimes the specs are wrong.

i have PP and my mum has a 6" one... so i had a chance to compare them.
One thing i noticed with the 6", is that it is significantly heavier (in its cover anyway) than the PP. The lack of scroll wheel is a big minus.

BUT as far as the easiness of reading goes, that one inch makes a biiiig difference. Not enough for me to give up the portability and light weight of PP, but if someones eyes are not the best (like my mums for example) i would def recommend a 6" one.

That is actually rather interesting the extra inch making a big difference. I've seen an iRiver Story at a local store (so it wasn't turned on) and the screen to me didn't seem big enough to make a difference, but I guess if it was working and I compared the two like you did side by side I would notice a difference.

I've often thought myself if a 6" would have been better for me, in ADE I find the third level of zoom too large for comfort, yet the second (albeit readable) a fraction too small, so the second font size on a 6" might be perfect. Coolreader has solved that issue for me on the 5".

So in short a 6" would be a recommendation for older people or people with poor(ish) eyesight, and a 5" should suffice for everyone else??

And speaking of the scroll wheel, I like it and would miss it too. Nothing like laying in bed with the PP on the pillow, hand resting next to it and little flick to turn the pages.
