I love it for the navigation. The touch screen navigation gives it a nice smart phone feel to it , a sort of "today's" technology. You also have to remember the LCD screen does go into sleep mode with no activity. You can set it to 10 secs, 30 secs. or 60 secs. I have mine set to 30 secs.
Displaying the book cover art is a nice touch and again something that should be included in todays products. We have the technology.
To me the Kindle and the such feel very outdated. sure they get the job done but so doesn't a rotary phone.

That's one of the reasons I love it.

overall this is such a great device.

Not going to affect the big screen readers though, is it? I would love it if they dropped by a 100 dollars

haha it's a good deal for whoever's sitting on the fence though. I really love my nook!
Any chance you got it within the month? They are offering refunds and stuff

Does Nook allow annotations, bookmarks, notes etc? I am really interested in the 149$ Nook, but I am a heavy annotator, and note taker while I read.

I have an iPad, but find it just so taxing on my eyes reading books on it at night.

Hey there Nook lovers,
What else is new in new firmware? GO TO page is a big plus. It was one of the reasons I returned my Nook a week ago (darn, now I see I did the right thing)).
Is there any improvements in PDF handling, language support? One major issue that made me return the Nook is the lack of landscape mode. Did they also add any other formats support. Come on, nook does not even support TXT... I just felt I ll spend too much time converting books from one format to another.
Nook is nice and slick but it is solely oriented to reading books and nothing else...books from B&N..books in English. Come on, add some more features, make it more marketable and I ll buy it. There are other real good e-Readers that do much more stuff. So far my choice is Onyx Boox, but its kinda twice as much as nook... but it also has 10 as much features as Nook...

for notes, your best option is the PRS-600/900, imho. Though the nook is fully capable!

actually it has improved languge support etc. Still no landscape mode, I do believe that would be more of a hardware than software.

TXT lack of support is an odd ommision but one I have yet to run into any problems.

The nook supports many languages outside of English, not sure why you think it doesn't. It did improve accents and such for foreign languages.

also you can buy books anywhere that e-pub is supported, not just BN again not sure why you said you can't. Did you actually research the product or just making wild claims. I don't know but yeah you can pick up books just about everywhere.

So if spending twice as much just so you can read something in tXT format and landscape but still have no real bookstore platform is your thing then there you go. Have a good time.

Je je, OK I ll be brief.
I did research the product. I tested the Nook for a week and a half. Tested with different formats. Epub is the only choice for nook. PDF is not that good on Nook. Yes, no landscape is a huge lack and especially for PDFs. No margins removal is also a big lack. 6 inch is quite good for reading PDFs in landscape mode if you remove margins. TXT - I have more than 100 boks in TXT, as well as in Doc and RTF. None is supported and I dont have lots of time to mess with Calibre conversions. No Cyrillic supprt.. Yeah, I also need that. I know the font can be embed but again its another waste of time. I will repeat. I really liked the Nook but it does not serve my needs. If you just want to read books - its a good device but for anything else - the are much better choices. Time is priceless and there are readers out there that can save lots of your time. Thanks for you input BTW.
