Why should they extend it? New works are entering into the public domain year on year all over the world in countries with a life + 70 copyright term. If M. Mouse & Co are the issue, why not simply grant a longer term for corporate copyright, and leave individual authors well alone? It's not been a problem in other countries.

You misunderstand me. What I meant was that you will be breaking US copyright law by uploading it here. MR can legally host it, but you can't legally upload it. Of course, whether that bothers you is entirely down to you.
