VPN = Virtual Private Network. If you could connect to a VPN in the States, all of your network traffic would appear to be coming from there and so presumably you'd have access to the iTunes store.

The trick would be 1) finding a VPN you could use and 2) finding a way to connect to it despite all of the restrictions on your Internet use.

I'd be careful if I were you; I believe there are severe criminal penalties for US citizens if caught breaking the US trade embargo with Cuba.

Use of VPNs is illegal in Cuba.

Tks people!! You´re all geniuses. I am too old fashioned and I think I prefer security to freedom. I don´t dare to abandon the green pastures of Apple and least of all risking cuban punishment bcause of my IPAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I´ll wait to be outside to download everything!
Cheers.

Question

Hi - I've read recently that apps can now be gifted. Perhaps a contact from the US could send you gift apps via email?

Nice try, but you still have to log into the app store to redeem the gift.

I didn't know you could gift apps, thanks for the heads up.

While you were in NYC, did you download the iBooks app, or perhaps Stanza? If you currently have either of those on your iPad, you can sync any publicly-available *.epub files through iTunes. If you don't have some sort of e-reader software already on the iPad though, you are probably out of luck until you are back within the US.
