Kindle (with the 2.5 update) has a nice perpetual zoom (you don't have to re-zoom with each page). Fairly cheap at $189 ($139 for a refurb) plus a nice 30 day return policy if it doesn't fit the bill.

If you want you can email me (PM for email addy) a couple pages and I'll do some screen shots of them on the K2 so you can get a little bit of an idea.

I'm not interested in a Kindle.

The new priced Kindle is something you should consider, regardless. It offers everything you need, and the more obscure readers are still quite expensive. The nook WiFi should be looked at, too. Other readers offer little more than those two, tbh.

(aside from touchscreens)

The Kindle offers too much. I do not want (nor trust) wireless or 3g. It is too big physically (the keyboard eats way too much space). It doesn't support enough formats, especially epub (and I don't want to hassle with conversion). Nook is no better if not worse.

I also do not want touchscreens.
