Yeah, right. I'm not doubting you were told that, but unless that came from both Murdoch and Sprint's CEO direct in a conference call to you, well, I'll believe it when I see it. Apple and Google have entirely changed the landscape of reading devices. If the Que actually hits the shelves I'll be shocked, and if it stays on sale for more than 6 months it'll be a miracle. The general consumer isn't going to be interested in a device that can't do video, play games, surf the web, and do it all in full color, when they can get a device that costs the same but can do all those things.

LG has the skiff sized (11.5" foil backed)display in production right now and is delivering it to someone. They said so at SID. They wouldn't confirm it was for skiff but someone is buying displays from them.

Not really. Neither is doing anything that hasn't already been done before.

It's called a laptop/tablet/etc, which have existed longer than dedicated eBook readers. Nothing's really changed there. They're tools for different uses. Not sure why you think that only one or the other will exist.

Sprint was probably the last to know about the sale. If my source had known about the sale then I seriously doubt she would have been allowed to respond at all.

What a joke. Millions sold in just a couple months. But yes, you're right, no one cares. By the way, how's iRex doing these days? Not sounding so ridiculous now to say that the iPad would put them out of business, hmmm? Called it back in January. Didn't actually take as long as I thought it would.

I never said no one cares or that the iPad wouldn't be successful, I'm also not sure what iRex has to do with a discussion about the Skiff? Did you respond to the wrong post by mistake, maybe?

That would makes sense. I'm sure News Corp is thoroughly blinded by the stellar success of iPad to even consider going to the market with anything less flashier.

You're assuming here that 'quality content' is the same thing as 'popular content'...

Trying to bring the iPad comment on topic
There are apps available for magazine (Zinio) and newspaper (PressReader) distribution. So if a company were primarily interested in content distribution rather than hardware, the hardware is already available, and competition has started. The Kindle can already do some of this, but particularly for magazines a colour screen makes all the difference.

Why do you assume I'm a "lefty"? (I'm not) I'm intelligent, that's all.

Ah, Fox News, you have much to answer for!

(Srsly, when nearly every other news organisation dosn't like you because of your attitude...)
