For some people, especially elderly or those with fragile wrists, this is a big weight difference. That said I own a Nook and a Jetbook-Lite which is 7.5oz and have not really noticed a weight difference when I'm holding each with both hands. When I'm holding the Nook in one hand I do notice a difference but it is more because the forward page button is the *bottom* button and tends to make the Nook top heavy whereas I find the Jetbook-Lite weight more evenly distributed due to the way it's setup. Not owning a PB360 I can't say for sure that it's the same but looking at a picture I imagine it would be.

There are two important issues to consider before making the switch to the Nook.

One is the fact that the Nook does not have any folder management on it. Yes, rumor has it that it will be included on the next firmware update but rumor had it we would get it with the last one and instead we got Sudoku, Chess and a crappy web browser. Yes, you can go to Nookdevs and install their Library software which I've heard is excellant but you do run the risk of bricking your Nook and if the people at Nookdevs can't get it unbricked you're screwed. Or you can do as some people suggest and only carry 20 or less books on it which, to me, defeats the purpose of being able to expand the memory to at least 16GB.

The other issue is that you can only put EPUB files on it. Well, technically you can put PDF/PDB files on it too but I've yet to have one actually appear properly so I don't count them. If all you read are EPUBs or you are familiar with programs like Calibre which will converts various formats to EPUB then it shouldn't be an issue but it is something to keep in mind.

Otherwise the Nook has an excellant screen and B&N has a great selection of ebooks.

Well I don't want to belabor the point, the bottom line is the Nook weighs the same as an average Trade Paperback. I've actually put a 377 page trade paperback on a scale and it came out just a hair over 12oz's so if you've held Tradepaperbacks in the past and felt they were light then you'll think the Nook is light as well. But that's the reality, it doesn't weight a pound nor 10lbs or a ton. It weighs the same a Trade Paperback, that's the reality.

on your other point, Hmmm that is odd I have a number of PDB's from Fictionwise that came out great. Not sure what you are using I do use Calibre but I'm not converting to ePub just a straight PDB.

And techincally it does have a file managment, it just a bare bones one. You sort by Author, Title, and Most Recent, and plus you can "Search" your library as well. Also you can go on to BN.com and you can manage your library a little more indepth there as well. or with Calibre
but as you said that is the latest rumor that a more in depth file managment will be added on with the next Firmware upgrade. I would be surprised if it wasnt' .

Also I don't know if the OP knows this or not but you can also turn the pages of your book via a finger swipe on the LCD sceen when it goes dark, I almost exclusivly use it.

Well good luck to you on your decision.

Thanks so much everyone for your input! I have decided to buy the nook, at least to try it out for a while. I'll hold onto the pocketbook as well, for now. (Oddly, I had family over yesterday and today, and my mother, the least tech savvy person I know, feel madly in love with the PocketBook! She liked how simple the interface was, and how unlike a book the device looks, and how light it is, and how pretty it is, and, and and... If I end up carrying the nook around with me all the time instead of leaving it on my nightstand, now I know who gets the PB. If I end up using both, at least I know what to get her for Christmas. I couldn't sell her on the Nook at all. She doesn't care about the online library or visiting the store and reading for free and she didn't like the relative bulk of the Nook, especially if you have to put a cover on it.)
