Reader hangs while transferring files - Page 2

Just tried it again...and now instead of the USB connected message, I have the Do not disconnect while transferring....I'm not sure what it could be transferring -- the Reader table of contents on the computer says that it has already transferred it

Try the Reset, button -- it won't wipe your memory (there's a very specific, multi-step method for the hard reset, which does wipe the memory, but it's not something you can do by accident, so don't worry 'bout that). You do have to exercise the power switch after the paper-clipping the reset button, and it takes a couple of minutes to run through it's routine, just so you're expecting it.

The "do not unplug while xferring" message is normal whenever the Reader is connected and the Connect software is running -- one of it's sub-optimal 'features' -- but I'm not sure what's going on with yours, hopefully a soft reset will knock it out. (knock on wood)

I believe that while your reader is connected to the computer you have one of two messages on the reader;

USB connected when the connect SW is not running, and
Do not disconnect while transferring when the connect SW is running

You may be transferring or not with the second message. Check the Connect SW status. If it is rotating, you are probably transferring. Be aware that the rotation is not continuous but starts & stops during rotation. But if it has been stopped for a while then it should be safe to close the SW & then disconnect the reader.
