Look man, I'm happy for you that you like using a USB stick filled with files in a variety of video formats, running on a jailbroken iPad... I guess that's why there are thousands of different apps... something for everybody.

However your statement about AirVideo streaming like watching a slideshow of jpgs in the photo app is just dismissive and ignorant. I found absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of the streamed 720p Mkv despite your assumptions.

It was a joke : however as airline wifi is so slow and I was talking about watching video on a PLANE my guess about the quality of said streamed video ON A PLANE is just as valid as your belief that it will be fine! However mine is at least based on the reality of knowing the speeds airline wifi runs at!

However the true fact of the matter is no you can't send a 720p video over a 1gb connection -FACT
It was being lowered in quality by air video server -FACT
Watching a streaming HD file via airline wifi will be like a slideshow as at best it will not even reach a 1mb speed and averages are more like .5 Mbps

You keep saying I need to try it! Well I don't iKNOW that a streamed HD file first of all ISNT HD once it leaves your PC AND 2nd of all will not be as good a quality as keeping the file on storage.

You just keep saying things that aren't true! Your weren't watching a HD video! 3G doesn't average over 1MB speeds!

Also remember whilst I thing air video is a GREAT app for the discussion we are having in this thread IE watching video from memory stick etc which air video CANT do then airvideo is an awful app!!

Who says the iPad needs an SD card slot.

Btw the Kingston widrive I mention above works flawless on the iPad. I highly recommend.

I was referring to the post before yours. I do have a WiDrive and yes, it does work pretty great. Now if only they'd also implement a simple HTTP file server, then there'd be no need for an Android app and you can use it to store other files, not just photos, music and videos. Apache works on the thing. That's how it serves configuration pages.

1) VLC did release. I tried it, it was crap, I deleted. Soon after, they pulled it and havent ever updated since then.

2) "Real" video players? There are dozens of them. I use oPlayer on my phone and CineXplayer on iPad (when I have one, I'm between at the moment). I mostly have avis to play and both these manage really well.

There is actually only one RealPlayer. It is a brand name, not the generic word real. To be correct there is no space between real and player. Check http://www.real.com

Goodplayer is also....good.
