Ah - thanks for the update, Mr Authorman It's not impairing my use of the program and the reader - just makes it a bit 'messy'. I will bear with it, and avoid PDFs when I can - I usually transfer the latest papers from the TUC site to read up, y'see

I'll add myself to the list of users who have lost all of their collection data by upgrading to 0.7.1. I'll be reverting back to 0.6.55 till the next patch. I didn't experience any changes to author names or book titles so far that I have seen.

Is there any way to completely erase my current collection data? My old collection data was replaced with tags that make little or no sense at all. Before I begin to rebuild my collection data again, I have to erase this mess.

Quit calibre. Plug the reader into the machine. Using a folder browser, navigate to the removable disk that is the reader. Work your way down through (if I remember correctly) database/cache to find the file media.xml. Delete it. If you are working on a storage card, delete cache.xml. When done, eject the reader. It will spend a long time rescanning all the books and rebuilding the file(s) you deleted. All collections and bookmarks will be erased. Note that you will also lose author/title information for any book that doesn't have built-in metadata.

While you are there, and assuming you are downgrading, you might as well delete the .calibre.metadata file. Calibre will rebuild it, and you will avoid any confusion caused by the downgrade.

An alternative way to do it is to transfer the books again using the downgraded calibre. It should rebuild the collections for those books, and delete any collections that are now empty.

Same Here :(

Very sad thing indeed. It's as if one bad file messed up my whole collection

I've had my sony reader 505 for over a year and for some reason poof the whole collection is gone. This is extremely frustrating considering I've been working on setting up my collections for what seems like forever

And I really like my reader.

This is why I set calibre's metadata management to Automatic Management. Even if my 505 hiccuped and lost all collections, it would take minutes to resend the books and the collections would all be back. Once I get my tags and series straight the collections are automatic.
