I'll put in my 2 cents... I too thought the same thing when comparing to Sony, etc. I wasn't able to compare it to Kindle except via dimensions, wt on the web. I actually added a leather cover from MEdge and with that on it, it added weight to the original. I find it's actually more comfortable with the cover on - I'm not nearly as afraid of dropping it either as the cover adds more of a "non-slip" grip. I don't even notice the weight - it balances perfectly.
