I feel your pain, patootie, the night before my vacation, I found the ebook I borrowed from my local library for the trip is not opening in my PRS 300, OK, I did my homework, searched every thread regarding this Sony protected epub/pdf issue, tried everything suggested in each link, deleted all the books from my reader, returned other books I had not finished, and checked out again and loaded the only library book I borrowed for this trip, spent almost whole night (and almost missed my flight), still I am seeing this slashed circle on the reader, this ruined whole point of carrying a reader on my trip - the only good part is I can still read some Holmes stories, but nay, no Stephen Kings, etc. Can't believe Sony has not come up with a fix for this thing.

Sylver, if I figure this out, I'll let you know. I was finally able to get one book from the library loaded, but I can't replicate what I did for the life of me!

What's funny to me is that I had an easier time figuring out the DRM stuff than I am borrowing from the library!

Just to follow up. This is the process I have to use to load library books using Overdrive/ADE and Sony Reader library with my PRS-300.

Notes:
Haven't been able to use Calibre with library books.
This worked for me on Mac or PC.
This is only with pdf version library books.

1. Checkout book from library website
2. When asked, I select Open Using ADE
3. Connect PRS-300
4. Close ADE
5. Open Sony Reader Library
6. File>Import Files
7. Libraries>Documents>My Digital Editions*
8. Select the pdfs of the library books then Open
9. Drag the book from the library to the PRS-300

*on Mac, use My Digital Editions Library location

This seems to work consistently for me.

was wondering if this only works with one DRM protected format when you say "consistently", that is, do you have only DRM pdf or only DRM epub on your reader or it does work consistently for you when both formats are on the reader? My issues I cannot have both formats, and once it screwed up with multiple formats, I deleted everything and tried what you outlined and load only one format, I still see the Protected Pages sign. Never mind, it is going to expire in a day or two, and I don't think I will want to try one more time. I will have to remove the DRM myself - it is a shame that one will have to do this to a library loaned book just to be able to read on a portable.

Sylver...I'm sorry it didn't work for you! I would be going crazy also. I only selected the pdf versions of the book. I read on the forums that there was a known issue with multiple formats, so I stuck with pdf.

Just going to throw something in: Please, don't blame the reader. Fault heres lies with DRM. Troublesome, isn't it?

I try to stay public domain or DRM free when able. Messing with ADE and Sony Library just isn't for me.
